Flying Berjaya Air to Penang

We recently got an invitation from Berjaya Air to celebrate their new route to Penang. Jason and I loves flying just as much as we love Penang food, so an invitation like this is impossible for us to pass. So we took up the invitation immediately!

For your information, Berjaya Air flies to Penang 5 times daily! And right now until October 2013, you can fly to Penang on the new ATR 72-500 for as low as RM84 (or from a flyer included in our welcome bag it’s from RM98 nett). So what are you waiting for?! :)

General Manager of Berjaya Air, Ms Adelie Lee said, “Berjaya Air’s objective is to assist and cater more options for travelers in providing more flights to Penang Island especially during this coming Chinese New Year. We think that this is what we should contribute by providing more services in the airline industry for the people. Still holding to our motto “Your Getaway Airline”, we aim to generate new demand to various island and shore destinations in making affordable and quality getaway travel available to all

Personally I have yet to fly in an ATR before. Surprisingly it was rather comfortable. And personally I think it’s more quiet compared to those jet powered aircraft like the 737 which is used by a certain budget airline.

Of course, previously we experienced a single propeller 4-seater light aircraft. Now that was REALLY fun.

Anyways, we took off from Subang Skypark. It was a very pleasant experience flying from Skypark. Firstly, the airport is just a short distance from Petaling Jaya or even the city centre. No need for a long 45 minute drives and all that. Then from check in to the departure lounge is just a minute’s walk away :)

Nina from Berjaya Air was present at the check in counter to ensure smooth check in and to see to our needs. Such a pleasant lady :) She was also with us when they hosted us at Pangkor. More on that to come soon.

That’s Jason sitting comfortably in the aircraft.

The aircraft itself it rather pleasant.

It’s a rather small aircraft but a very comfortable one. The photo above was taken from almost at the back of the aircraft. There’s also ample space in terms of seating position and leg room.

Oh.. and we have pillows!! No need to pay extra :)

Halfway through the flight, I saw this!!

We had refreshments :) Nothing much, but it’s a welcome treat!

A simple kaya bun with peanuts, water, juice and wet tissue/towel. A very nice breakfast to start the morning. Just nice to fill the empty tummy in the morning while waiting for the main breakfast in Penang!

On the way.. the view was magnificent!

Oh.. and look what we found..

Today’s Choices as the in-flight magazine! You might recognise the magazine from our previous blog post :)

We stayed a night there in Penang and had our craving for laksa, char kueh teow, and cendol satisfied!

Penang’s International Airport just recently underwent an overhaul. I have not been to this airport before, but apparently according to Jason, it’s a much better airport now. Much brighter, and more comfortable.

And we were on our way back to KL.

We would like to thank Berjaya Air for having us on your new route to Penang! It was a real welcome as we were actually discussing (and salivating) over Penang food just a couple of days prior to the invite :)
