It’s 2013!

First of all.. Happy New Year 2013 to all our readers!

We wish that this new year brings to you guys the realisation of many dreams, hopes and wishes! :)

2012 was a year of many things. Some sad, some ‘kan cheong’ but mostly happy!

We decided that as photographers, we have a responsibility to our couples and clients. Although we do have in place contingency measures to avoid any unforeseen issues, we took it a step further this year and invested heavily into additional equipment, hardware and software to ensure we provide the best of us.

Ok, that’s not ENTIRELY ours. That is part of the gears used during the marathon photoshoot. The other half have gone home after a long hard morning.

That said, we did have many fun times through 2012. This include the many fun times we had working with fellow photographers in various projects including a very interesting job photographing a marathon event. You see, we were not newbies when it comes to photoshooting marathon, but this particular marathon required that each individual runner be photographed, and their photos renamed according to the bib number. That does not sound like much but when you return home with over 6000 photos, it was a real handful.

It was also during this marathon shoot that I personally discovered how effective a ‘headband’ was to prevent sweat going into my eyes. Even if the headband was an impromptu make-do from a hand towel.

Earlier in 2012, we were given the honour of being in the panel of judges for a photography competition organised by Ryokan Chic Hostels.

And we met the legendary Joe McNally and his shadow Drew…

As well as the equally renowned Zack Arias.

Not forgetting the various weddings and awesome couples we have the honour of being their wedding photographers.

And last but not least, we did a tie up with a local media company whose dynamic team brought to Malaysians Today’s Choices magazine. Check them out at their facebook page or their webpage.

We work hand in hand with each other. So far we have done a few covershots for their magazine. Oh.. and a media trip to a tropical island nearby.

Stay tuned for more updates of our work (and play) with them soon.

Well, I guess that sums up 2012 in a very small nutshell. :)

We will try to update this blog more often to keep you updated with what we are up to. In the mean time, do not hesitate to drop us line or two. Even just to say hi! :)

The Tank.....

As mention by John, currently the FOS team has got bitten by the film bug. I must admit that I was the worst of the 2 that was bitten badly. Every since the film frenzy I have been searching for films, where to get, process and scan them out. What I felt was that it was back to basics in film photography. It makes me think of how and what I wanted to shoot.

Then just last week I really wanted a Medium Format(MF) film camera. John asked "Why want venture into MF Camera?" Honestly I have been always fascinated with MF cameras example Hasselblad, Contax, Mamiya, Kiev and many more. So the search for a reasonable and pristine unit is in progress and to my luck I have found what I wanted. It was a Mamiya Rb67 proSD, the last upgraded model in it generation since 1970. This BEAST was the work horse of many professional fashion photographers including famous ones.

Here are some of the pictures of the camera.

Why I mention camera as a TANK or a BEAST is because this camera really is big and heavy and weights a ton (2.5kg to be exact hahaha )

Something from this morning…

I think this is the first time we had some ‘behind the scenes’ photos during an actual day wedding. Most of the time we are too engross with the couple. This time around, I had a little time to sneak a shot.

A Walk Around Petaling Street aka China Town

It has been a while since we went on a group shoot. It has been ages since our last photowalk around Bukit Bintang. This time around, we tagged along with a friend who suggested to document Petaling Street and it’s surroundings. Apparently parts of the historical Petaling Street and surroundings would make way for a transport project. So we took this opportunity to photo document that area which is filled with heritage, tradition and history.

We started off with some with a nice delicious beef noodle breakfast at one of the old coffee shops.

Sorry. I was rather hungry and only remembered to take photos of the noodles after we are done with it. It was delicious!

It was a free and easy shoot. No rules. No expectations. Just a group of us photographing anything worth photographing.

One of us even brought a medium format Mamiya!

There are many streets and roads and a lot of other interesting things which you would probably miss if you are just driving pass.

Enjoy the rest of the series.

And at the end of the photo session, we settled down for a nice piping hot bowl of porridge..
