A Photo Walkabout

It has been a while since our last update. Sorry ya. We were a bit tied up with our own stuff for a bit lately.

Puasa month is about to come to an end. Our Muslim brethren shall be celebrating the and so shall we gorge on glorious buka puasa dishes like beef and ayam rendang, ayam masak merah with nasi tomato. And wash them all down with icy-cold carbonated air bandung. Glorious isn't it? Thinking about it brings on the gastric juices.

I digress.

Back to the subject at hand, the photo walk about.

Jason and I decided that it would be nice to bring out cameras out to town one weekend and just see if there's anything exciting to photograph. And since we were going on a photo walkabout, we thought we have an open invitation to anyone who would like to join us. So we announced on our facebook that we were going to be at McDonald's in the heart of town at 9am.

3 others turned up. We must be very popular. *jokes*

It was a Sunday morning. So the traffic was as smooth as babies' bottom. Even the notoriously congested Sg. Besi road was free of congestion. So we saved RM2.00 SMART toll.

So the 5 of us met up at Bukit Bintang's McDonalds and had a good laugh over delicious but overly expensive breakfast. Good thing they have refills. After a good filling, we proceeded to start our photowalkabout.

Personally I am a fast shooter. I reach a certain location, see an interesting subject/building/scene and I quickly take a photo of it. Well, maybe two just to get the lighting or mood I want. And then I move on. That's a good trait I believe. However, I do respect those who take their time to take in the location, the scene, the people and the entire atmosphere. Some of the 5 took their time. And as they stood there with their arms outstretched, heads tilted back and facing skywards, eyes closed, spinning around slowly and almost belting out that song from Titanic, I had some time on my hands. And so...

.. I did some panning. I have always liked my photos to be filled with energy. Be it sexual energy between two people, a passionate kiss or a loving stare. It can also be a shared laughter. Or octane-powered, combustive energy turned kinetic!!

We did not walk too far. Mainly by the main road, over pedestrian bridges and through shopping malls. The walk through air-conditioned shopping malls provided much relieve from the devastating heat. Plus, one particular shopping mall provided a very much interesting photo opportunity.

Photobucket

Even the pedestrian bridge provided enough angles for a full 30 minutes of snaps.

And of course, a photo outing will not be complete without some candids :)

For the following two photos. Cow was lingering on the walkway next to Pavilion shopping centre when we noticed how he resembled the model in the billboard. Well, ALMOST resemble.

It was a good break. Good fun to meet up with friends. And a good way of seeing that part of town on foot. Quite interesting. There were some friends also wanting to join in the photowalkabout but due to the timing, were not able to. Not to worry. We shall make another photowalkabout soon. :)
